SEO Blog Writing Step 2 – Structure
Most writers will tell you that good writing is rewriting. And while that is true, it helps to have a basic blueprint of how you want your blog to go.
You usually want to split your outline into 4 parts:
You may have had a similar structure during your high school English classes, but unless your audience is PhD committees, this format is usually the most SEO friendly.
SEO Blog Writing Step 3 – Title
This part is either the most overlooked or the most scrutinized. This is mainly because the title also doubles as the URL for that individual blog post.
Some writers like to do this at the beginning. It can help keep their structure and keep them on track with the subject. Others will write the body and come up with a title afterward.
Whatever your process, it helps to know that the best practice for SEO blog writing is making sure your title, and by extension your URL, is not only catchy, but SEO friendly.

Character length is between 55 and 60 characters
Includes the target keyword
Describes the content of the post.
SEO Blog Writing Step 4 – Headings
Headings are straightforward with simple rules. Simply put, headings need to be hierarchical. You should include your focus keyword in at least the main title and the main subheading, but you don’t need to overload it with the keywords.
The organization will help avoid placing your content in “Crawling” and allow it to be indexed.
SEO Blog Writing Step 5 – Paragraphs
You don’t need to, and probably shouldn’t, have large blocks of text.
Think of it this way, how likely are you to read a huge block of text from someone in the Facebook comment? If you aren’t willing to do that yourself, how can you expect someone to do that for you?
It’s the same with your blog posts. Keep it readable. Keep your paragraphs short.

Be sure to do this when it makes sense to do so. You don’t want your blog to just be one link after another, but there still isn’t a limit on how many you can link at a time.

Keywords are important and should be sprinkled throughout your blog. There’s not really an issue with doing so. We do need to clarify, though, that your keywords do need to be used carefully.
Keyword stuffing should be avoided. What we mean here is that putting in a keyword just for the sake of putting in a keyword, especially when it affects readability or even the reader’s flow will only serve to hurt your SEO chances.
As we’ve mentioned in this and previous posts, keywords should be in specific places like your title, headings, and the conclusion as well as sprinkled throughout your post.
SEO Blog Writing Step 8 – Length
A surprising stat that has come out is showing that longer posts tend to perform better when it comes to SEO. But that’s not to say that shorter posts don’t have their place to shine either.
Again, what matters is quality. If you can produce 2 to 3 quality blogs a week, your chances of ranking high improve significantly.
SEO Blog Writing Step 9 – Meta Description
The easiest way to describe this is a Twitter post. How would you describe your blog using the same characters limits on Twitter? Short, sweet, and to the point. And it all must be within 150 to 200 characters.
SEO Blog Writing Step 10 – Media
Media can make your blog writing even more SEO friendly. They also make it more interesting to read.
One trick to using media for SEO blog writing is to name the media you’re using with the keywords you want to optimize. Simply keeping it as img0001.jpg will have the bots skipping over your post and make it harder for you to rank your site.
